I have cracking of the skin in a really weird place?

They could be related. Why don't you try an OTC anti fungal. It can't hurt and it might help. The 2 main ones are tolnaftate and lotromen (not sure of spelling). They come in sprays creams and powders. I would use the cream or spray for those areas. If this hasn't helped after 3 days of using as instructed then see your doctor.
